Elm Health in NYC: Best Natural Skincare Products (Review)

Before heading back to Portugal to finish my Graduate studies, I stopped by my favorite health food store, Elm Health which now has a new convenient location in the West Village on 7^th Avenue between 13^th and 14^th Streets in New York City. The store is so refreshing because they have an amazingly stocked collection of health food and all kinds of other specialty products, as well as a pharmacy and you get greetings at the door! Yes, Elm Health / Elm Drugs even has an employee who opens doors for you and salutes you! Now that’s what I call great customer service. I didn’t stop by there for food though on this trip but to stock up and get advise on good beauty products. I wanted to buy natural skincare products - a moisturizer, eye cream for the skin around the eyes and a night moisturizer so I asked a pharmacy rep at the store. Renee was friendly, very helpful and catered to my specific requests. Might I add, that she recommended products that I absolutely love and will probably restock when they run out. Below are health product reviews of each product that was recommended to me.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) sounds like some lethal ingredient but in fact, our bodies produce it naturally; binding 1000 times its weight in water. This ability is lost with time and Episilk’s Pure Hyaluronic Acid allows our skin to retain moisture and provided is with volume, form and a natural face-lift. Evidently the ingredient is the subject of lots of research due to its remarkable ability to rejuvenate and moisture skin. It's a skin secret. Interestingly, it’s not actually an acid but a sodium salt and has a neutral pH measurement. Above all, it’s good for our skin health!

I’ve been using Episilk’s PHA Serum now for two weeks and love it! It comes out as this clear, silky liquid and once I put it on my face, my face instantly feels like it tightens and it feels very smooth, fresh and super healthy. The serum is also meant to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, which I don’t have yet and hope that the product will keep them from coming! This is definitely one of those products that give you naturally beautiful skin.

Sukiface’s Eye Lift Cellular Renewal Cream is a youth restoring cream for the eye and lip area. The product uses advanced liposome technology and key ingredients include collagen (acai oil), flavonoids (hibiscus liposome), and glabridin (licorice root). The cream is said to boost collagen synthesis, firm under eye area, reduce puffiness, brighten dark circles, fightsvisible lines & wrinkles, restore radiance, nourish cells, leave skin lifted, toned, and velvety smooth.

I’ve been using Sukiface’s eye cream sporadically in the past two weeks and really like it. It’s an ivory color and smells really good. The cream has great reviews and I intend to continue using it to prevent lines and wrinkles from becoming visible.

Devita’s Evening Rich Nutritional Moisturizer is a rich night cream that uses ingredients like Certified Organic Aloe vera, Avocado oil, Vitamin E and Hyaluronic acid to condition the skin overnight. They’ve also added a blend of exotic essential oils such as Frankincense, Sisymbrium and Palmarosa.

I’ve been using it religiously every evening before going to bed and wake up with my face feeling smooth and toned. Love it! My love for Devita’s skin care extends to its ethical practices.
